When it comes to combat knives, there are very few names that mean more than Colonel Rex Applegate and William E. Fairbairn. The two are responsible for making one of the most iconic combat knives of all time: the Applegate-Fairbairn fighting knife.
Gerber picked up a folding version of the knife and turned it into the original Applegate-Fairbairn Combat Folder. After making some improvements, Gerber landed on the Covert — a smaller, more pocket-friendly version of the knife. It’s been a huge success.
The Gerber Applegate-Fairbairn Covert Auto is an automatic version of the famous folding knife. Made in the United States of America, the automatic Covert has a 3.78-inch S30V stainless steel blade that uses a spring-loaded auto release to engage the blade quickly and reliably with the push of a button.
Its black-coated dagger-style blade has a piercing point and partially serrated edge. The manual and spring-assisted versions of the Covert have remained top options for military personnel and this automatic version only makes the case even more compelling.
The black handle is made of 6061 aluminum and features ridges to increase the grip. It comes with a sliding safety feature to ensure the blade does not accidentally deploy when storing it.
An included removable deep-carry pocket clip ensures easy carry.
